How to Customize Firefox
Mozilla Firefox, which the Mozilla Foundation runs and Netscape owns, is a web browser that allows users to browse the web, check email, play browser-based online games, and take advantage of thousands of add-ons that are not found in any other web browser. Mozilla Firefox was designed to be user friendly and highly functional, gaining much of its support from volunteers. Mozilla Firefox is considered one of the most popular web browsers in the world.
Homepage
Users can customize their Firefox homepage in two different ways. In order to set a single homepage, a user must simply go to the webpage that he/she wishes to make his/her homepage, click and hold the website’s icon in the address bar, and drag it over to the Homepage button. If a user wishes to set multiple homepages, this can be done by opening all the webpages that he/she would like to set as homepages in separate tabs, clicking the Firefox or Tools button, and selecting Options. From here, the user can select the General panel if it is not already selected, select the “Use current pages” button under the Homepage field, and click OK.
Parental Controls
With parental controls, users can customize when the computer is accessible and which websites users can visit. Although Firefox does not have any default parental controls, it works in conjunction with the settings found in Internet Options, such as blocked websites and cookie settings. Additionally, users can take advantage of free Firefox parental control add-ons that provide administrative users with much more support.
Add-Ons
Like the parental control add-ons linked to above, users can also find numerous other free add-ons that provide a wide variety of functions that Firefox itself does not provide. The Mozilla Foundation as well as other Firefox users introduced these add-ons, much in the same way that Android users create Android Market applications. Users can search for any Firefox add-on here.
