Athlon-64 is a name for AMD’s main line of 64-bit CPUs. The Athlon-64 line is designed to complete against the Intel Pentium CPUs. Athlon-64 processors are designed to execute 32-bit and 64-bit instructions simultaneously. This enables them to directly address more than 4GB of RAM. Athlon-64 CPUs feature an L1 cache with 64KB of RAM for data and 64KB of RAM for instructions. The 1024KB L2 cache in an Athlon-64 CPU operates at the full speed of the CPU. These L1 and L2 cache numbers are per core. In a Read More

What is a Buckyball?

Last edited by . Total of no comments in the discussion.

A buckyball is a fullerene with an ellipsoidal or spherical cage that is comprised of covalently bonded carbon atoms. This is another carbon arrangement (allotrope) type that is between graphite and diamond. The first fullerene to be discovered was C60. It was named buckminsterfullerene after Buckminster Fuller who designed well-known geodesic domes that resemble the molecule. The buckyball and other fullerenes are very strong but expensive to produce and purify. A nanotube, another fullerene variant, has similar qualities to buckyballs but are cylindrical instead of spherical. When were Buckyballs First Read More

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol)

Last edited by . Total of 3 comments in the discussion.

An IP address can be defined as a unique numeric identifier (address) that is assigned to each computer operating in a TCP/IP based network. Manually configuring computers with IP addresses and other TCP/IP configuration parameters is not an intricate task. However, manually configuring thousands of workstations with unique IP addresses would be a time consuming, and cumbersome experience. When you manually assign IP addresses, you increase the risk of duplicating IP address assignments, configuring the incorrectsubnet masks, and incorrectly configuring other TCP/IP configuration parameters. This is where the Dynamic Host Read More
