How to Turn off an iPhone
Although the iPhone is designed to go into sleep mode after a pre-defined period of inactivity, it still loses power in this state. Furthermore, if the user is in a meeting or another location where he or she does not want the phone to wake-up when receiving a phone call or text, then the phone must be turned off as sleep mode does not keep the device in the “Off” state. Other times, if the iPhone’s battery is low on power, the user may want to preserve battery life to make outgoing calls and will need to turn off the iPhone to do so.
How to Turn off the iPhone
Step 1 – Hold the “Sleep” or “Wake” button at the upper, right-hand corner of the iPhone for one to three seconds.
Step 2 – A subsequent screen will ask that a slider is moved across the screen to turn off the iPhone. If necessary, touch the “Cancel” button to avoid turning off the device.
Step 3 – Slide the slider to the right to turn off the iPhone. A progress display will appear, then the phone will turn “Off.” No incoming calls, emails, or texts can be received until the phone is turned “On.”
