MP4 was released as a multimedia container format in 1998 and is designed to supplant all prior releases of MPEG formats. The MP4 format is optimized for streaming on the Internet, but requires conversion to DVD format to be viewed on many DVD players. As a result, consumers commonly have the need arise to convert MP4 to DVD format.

Convert MP4 to DVD Using Nero

Nero is a popular video editing software package that is available to try out for free before making the decision to purchase. The application can be used to convert MP4 files to DVD.

Step 1 – Download and install Nero on your computer.


Step 2 – Open the program by double-clicking the program icon on your computer’s desktop.

Step 3 – Choose the menu option to “Add video file” from the control panel located on the right-hand side of the program. Select the MP4 file to convert to DVD.

Step 4 – Select the “Merge Titles” menu option to merge multiple files into a single DVD.

Step 5 – Choose the “Export” menu button located on the bottom control panel of the program. Enter the output file path in the subsequently displayed dialogue box.

Step 6 – Choose the “Next” menu button to customize the DVD menu. Click “Next” again when complete with menu manipulations and preview the DVD.

Step 7 – Click the “Burn” menu button to start ripping the MP4 to DVD. It will take between 15 and 30 minutes to complete a conversion and burn to DVD format based on the overall length of movie being ripped.

Convert MP4 to DVD Using DVD Flick

Step 1 – Download and install DVD Flick on your computer.

Step 2 – Launch the application and then select the “Add Title” menu button to load the MP4 file for conversion.

Step 3 – Choose the “Edit Title” menu option while the movie is selected.

Step 4 – Click the “General Settings” menu option. Then, verify the name of the title reads as desired and click the “Accept” menu button.

Step 5 – In the main application window, choose the menu button labeled with the project name.

Step 6 – Change the “Target Size” to 4.3 GB in the “General Settings” menu. Then, click the “Video” menu tab.

Step 7 – Change the “Target bit rate” to “Auto Fit” and then click the “Burning” menu tab.

Step 8 – Modify desired burning settings. If you are a novice user, then the default options will suffice for a MP4 to DVD burn.

Step 9 – Click the “Create DVD” menu button in the main navigation window to initiate the conversion and burn the DVD.
