An Android is a smartphone that Google produced that allows users to communicate with their friends, relatives, and co-workers via calls and text messaging, Internet access, and a built-in email client. The Android also features a camera, task management software, and a wide variety of applications that users can take advantage of. Additionally, the Android includes a complete mobile operating system and a browser for accessing the Internet. While the Android’s default web browser is Android 2.2, users have the option to download and install any mobile browser they choose.

Opera Mini is a mobile version of the Opera browser that is specifically designed for smartphones, PDAs, and other mobile devices. Opera Mini features news, social networking plug-ins, and email directly available from its homepage, allowing users to visit their most accessed websites as easily as on a computer. Opera Mini is also very fast and includes a built-in data compression scheme that can lower the user’s monthly service fee by up to 90%.

 

Mozilla Fennec

Mozilla Fennec is the mobile version of the Mozilla Firefox browser. Mozilla Fennec is specifically designed for optimization with small screens and uses touch screen controls rather than a mouse. Mozilla Fennec also features tabbed browsing, location-aware browsing, password management, and complete synchronization with the computer based version of Mozilla Firefox.

 

Dolphin HD

Mobotap’s Dolphin HD is a web browser that was designed specifically for Android smartphones and can be found in the Android Market. Dolphin HD includes extremely fast browsing, a built-in speed dial application, and a “Webzine” that lists all of the user’s favorite websites such as news feeds, social networking services, and email. Dolphin HD also includes a list of additional add-ons that users can install on their Android such as a PDF reader, YouTube search function, and password management tool.

 

Skyfire

Skyfire is an independent mobile browser that is available for the Android, iPhone, and iPad. Yahoo rated Skyfire the #2 Android application due to its diverse functions. For example, Skyfire includes a Flash video translation service that converts Flash videos into HTML5 on Skyfire’s servers, allowing users to watch millions of videos on the Internet that they would not have been able to on other mobile devices. Skyfire also includes a Skyfire Search function that allows users to get results from all of the most popular search engines simultaneously and a Facebook Quickview that keeps the users’ Facebook page running in the background for easy access. It also allows users to run the browser as either a launchable service or a desktop add-on that runs all the time for easier access to the Web.
