Cable Stapler

A cable stapler (cable tie gun) is a mechanical device that is used to secure cables, wires, and other cords. Cable staplers are often used in the construction industry to secure cables during construction and to properly install outlet wires. Cable staplers are also used to bundle rope, twine, straps, and similar materials during transportation to protect valuable materials, as too much movement may damage them. Cable staplers work by mechanically fastening a strap much tighter than any human could ever do.

Cable Stapler VS Regular Stapler

While regular staplers/staple guns work by pressing a staple into an object and compressing it so that the staple bends around the object, cable staplers are made for tightening cables, wires, and cords. A cable stapler allows the user to pull on a lever that is connected to a gear so that a cord is mechanically tightened. The cord itself fits into a clamp at the tip of the device and is locked into place when the user begins to pull on the lever. There are many different types of cable staplers. Some require the user to place metal staples around the cord and others provide the actual staples, akin to a typical stapler.

Parts of A Cable Stapler

Lever
The cable stapler's lever is where all of its mechanical power comes from. This lever serves as both a handle and a reliable method of converting the mechanical energy applied by the user's hand into rotational kinetic energy in the gear. While the lever is a common part of any cable stapler, there are certain cable staplers that do not have levers at all and depend on electricity, CO2, or other forces instead.

Gear
The cable stapler's gear accepts the mechanical energy from the user and slowly rotates accordingly. This gear causes the plastic strip or cable staple that has been fitted into the clamp to be pulled inside of the device, therefore tightening the material. While not all cable staplers use gears and rely on springs or raw mechanical energy, the gear is a common part of a typical cable stapler.

Clamp
The clamp is a trademark item in any cable stapler, no matter what type it is. The type of cable stapler determines which clamp is used. For example, some clamps are used to simply press a material until it gives in under its own weight. This type of clamp can be seen when using metal cable staples. A clamp can also just be a simple insertion point for incoming straps. This type of clamp is designed for holding the strap in place as well as feeding it into the device.

Electric Cable Staplers
While mechanical cable staplers require the user to hold a lever in order to fasten a cable, electric cable staplers are able to perform all of the work. Electric cable staplers work similar to mechanical cable staplers. Instead of only having a gear, an electronic cable stapler has a small air compressor, gear, and an electronic pump. This means that all the user has to do is place the cable staples where they need to be and hold the stapler. Also in existence are CO2 cable staplers that use CO2 to power a gear that fastens the cord or cable staple.
