Sony’s Playstation 3 (PS3) is one of the most popular gaming consoles on the market. The user can connect the PS3 to the Internet to play multi-player, networked games and download or view movies/television shows. Users often encounter DNS Error 80710102 while attempting to connect their PS3s to the Internet. Router configuration issues or minor PS3 problems can cause this error.

How to Correct DNS Error 80710102

Step 1 – Open a browser window on the computer and enter the home router’s IP address into the browser address bar. For most home routers, the default IP address is 192.168.1.1.

Step 2 – Enter the router’s login name and password in order to access the router configuration panel, then click “OK.”

Step 3 – Select “Password,” choose “Disable” under “UpnP,” then click “Save.”

Step 4 – Restart the PS3 and attempt to connect to the Internet.

Step 5 – If the PS3 will not connect to the Internet, download the latest PS3 firmware from the PS3 homepage.

Step 6 – Insert a USB flash drive into the computer’s USB slot and create a folder on the drive called “GAME” in all capital letters.

Step 7 – Save the downloaded firmware in the “GAMES” Folder on the USB drive and then disconnect the drive from the computer.

Step 8 – Insert the flash drive into the PS3 and access the “Game” menu via the XMB main menu.

Step 9 – Choose the PS3 firmware update file from the PS3 menu and install it on the machine. After the firmware upgrade is complete, attempt to connect the PS3 to the Internet.

Step 10 – If the PS3 still fails to connect to the Internet, connect it directly to the Internet modem. If the console works, then the Internet router may have a problem that requires further troubleshooting.
