Computers usually display the “No Audio Device Error” message when it does not detect any properly working audio device attached to it. Users will not hear any sound from their computer when this message appears. Only the computer’s internal speaker makes bleeping sounds.

When this message appears on the screen, check the computer’s BIOS and ensure that the audio is set to “auto” mode. Also, check if the correct drivers that the audio device attached to the computer needs in order work properly are installed.

Audio Device Drivers

The most frequent cause of this problem is an incorrect audio device driver. In order to double check whether the driver matches the device, refer to the user’s manual that came with it to look for its type and specifications. The audio device driver for an onboard device should be provided with the chipset drivers in the CD that accompanies the motherboard.

Use the Device Manager

Use the device manager to ascertain if the audio device drivers are installed properly. To go to the device manager, right click the My Computer icon, click Properties, and click on the Hardware tab and the Device Manager. If any device is marked with a yellow question mark, it is an indication that the required drivers are missing. It should be instantly clear if the audio device is truant.

Loose Connections on the Motherboard

Open the computer and directly look at the information written on the audio device itself. While doing this, make it a point to check all connections by ensuring that everything is properly plugged into its correct place. Sometimes loose connections and a sound card that has been improperly attached to the PC cause this error.

Download the latest updated drivers from the manufacturer’s website. If another computer is used to download the drivers, use a data storage device to bring the drivers to the computer in question and execute the software installer from there. Ensure that the downloaded driver is compatible with the operating system installed on the machine.

Is the Audio Device Defective?

If the audio device problems persist, test the audio device on a different machine just to see if it is in good working condition. If it still does not work, then the audio device is defective. Replace it if it is under warranty or purchase a brand new one. Buy an audio device that is compatible with the motherboard. In addition, do not forget to ask for the audio devices’ updated software drivers.
