Pill Identification Numbers
Many of us require medication for optimum health and this usually leads us to the pharmacist where we pick up our medicine in the form of pills. As the months and years go by our medicine cabinets become full with a variety of different pills for a host of ailments. Sometimes we no longer know what each pill is and what it is used for. However, it should be noted that practically all pills sold in the US have a pill identification mark to easily advise us what it is.
Pill identification numbers are not always numbers; they can be text, shapes, etc. In addition, there are other features of a pill that can make it easy to identify. These include the shape of the pill itself and the color of the pill.
For those that are unsure what kind of pill you have, you can usually find out by using the pill identification numbers on it. There are a few ways to find out this important information.
Visit Your Local Pharmacist
Many times your local pharmacist can easily tell you what a pill is by looking at it and/or inputting the pill identification number into their pharmacy database. Since every type of pill has a unique pill identification number, a database with the information can usually find the type of pill you have in just a few seconds.
Call the US FDA Division of Drug Information
If you found a pill in your home and you are unsure what it and what it is used for, you can contact the US Food and Drug Administration and request an identification of that pill. The number is: 1-800-222-1222.
Enter the Pill Identification Number into the Many Internet Websites
Many websites online offer information about the pills you have simply by entering the pill identification number and any other markings or features the pill has. This method is a good way to find out what pill you have privately and from the comfort of your own home.
