The iPod is a portable media player created and sold by Apple Inc. It is by far the most popular portable media player in the world. iPod stores media files on a built-in hard drive. How to Unfreeze an iPod

Just like any other device, an iPod may freeze and be non-responsive to any command. In such situations, the best thing to do is reset the device. Also, sometimes the hold button on your iPod may remain in the lock position, which will prevent you from using the device. You will need to push it back to the unlocked position and wait for the device to unfreeze. The reset procedure varies with each iPod model.

How to Unfreeze an iPod Shuffle

To reset the iPod Shuffle, perform the following steps:

If your iPod is connected to a computer, remove it from the computer. Slide the switch on the iPod to the OFF position. Wait for at least 5 to 10 seconds. Slide the switch to the Play or Shuffle position. The iPod is now reset.

How to Unfreeze an iPod Touch

At the top of the device there is a sleep/wake button. This is the button you press to put the device to sleep or to wake it up. To unfreeze an iPod touch, you need to hold this button and then press the home button at the same time. Hold this until you see the Apple logo on the screen. This will reset the iPod.

How to Unfreeze an iPod Classic

Unlike with the Touch, unfreezing an iPod Classic requires two steps. The first step is to slide the Hold switch on and then off. Slide it into a hold position and then slide it so that hold is off. After doing this, you have to press the menu and select two buttons at the same time. The first button you have to press is on top of the device and the other one is on the volume wheel. Hold them down for six to ten seconds until the Apple logo appears.

How to Unfreeze an iPod Nano

Resetting an iPod Nano is almost identical to resetting an iPod classic. Also,  if you have an iPod Mini, you can reset it in the exact same way as this device. Slide the hold switch on and off.  Press the menu and select buttons simultaneously. Once you do this, you’ll have to wait for the Apple logo to appear which can take up to ten seconds.

 

To reset an any iPod with a click wheel, perform the following steps:

  1. Push the Hold button back and forth between the on and off position.
  2. Hold down the Menu and Center buttons at the same time for about 5 to 10 seconds; the Apple logo will appear as soon as it resets.
  3. Repeat step 2 if necessary.

To reset the iPod with a scroll wheel, touch wheel or an iPod with a dock connector, perform the following steps:

  1. Push the Hold button back and forth between the ON and OFF position.
  2. Hold down the Play and Menu buttons at the same time, for about 5 to 10 seconds; the Apple logo will appear once it resets.
