What is an iPad Remote Desktop?
An iPad is a type of tablet PC that Apple produced, which is larger than an iPhone, but smaller than a Mac. iPads are capable of all of the same functions that Macs are, but are much more portable and include additional hardware features that Macs do not have, such as touch screen, built-in cameras, and motion detection. While iPads are too big to fit inside a pocket, its owner can transport it in a carrying case and use it in virtually any environment.
What is an iPad Remote Desktop?
An iPad remote desktop is a type of software that a user can install on his/her iPad in order to view or control another computer via an Internet connection. It is similar to the remote desktop software found on Windows based machines and is used to assist friends and relatives by directly accessing their computer, rather than giving them instructions over the phone. iPad remote desktop programs differ in both functionality and design, but they all provide the same basic tools for accessing remote computers. The following are several examples of free remote desktop software:
TeamViewer HD
TeamViewer HD is generally considered the best free cross-platform remote desktop software available for non-commercial use. TeamViewer HD is a 10 MB program that each remote user needs to download, which allows one user to create a session and a password. The user who created the session and password then gives this information to the one who has not done so and who will be accessing the computer of the user who did. The user who did not create the session and password simply needs to enter the other’s information in order to access his/her computer. TeamViewer HD runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, and iOS.
MochaVNC Lite
MochaVNC Lite is a Mac OSX product that also runs on the iPad and is used for remote desktop applications. MochaVNC Lite is able to automatically detect all of the user’s devices, including peripheral ones, and connect to remote users via a password protected VNC server. MochaVNC allows users to share virtually everything, including files, screen view, printer and scanner, CD and DVD, web and Bluetooth, and other management tools.
